Spoon always makes interesting moves. Their albums, their style, their music is consistently great. But, from album to album, they seem to switch up from either a collection of songs, or a single piece. Lucifer On the Sofa is more the former. There’s a lot of solid work on this album, but it does not feel like a whole, singular piece. Which is not a bad thing. One of my favorite albums from them is Transference, which is also leans more to a collection of songs. The best thing about listening to this new album is knowing that you’ll get to see them transformed when played live.
